Tommy Case 7/10/26

Tommy Case, a prep righty from Lantham, NY, threw two innings on Friday, touching 95 with a sharp curveball and late-diving change. The Dodgers signed Case for $442,500, making him the highest paid UDFA in 2025.

Listed at 6’1” 180, Case is a wiry kid with room for good weight; he should fill out a bit and gain strength with professional development. He already sits 91-93 and touches 95 on the fastball. Case has impressive feel for spin and a sharp curveball in the 78-80 range. The changeup also flashes plus with late fade, but it is much less consistent. You can also see arm slot differences between the pitches as he cheats up slightly for the curve and down for the changeup. There’s some chance better hitters pick up on that.

It’s a full throttle look to Case’s delivery. He has big arm speed and a whippy arm action, which is good for velo but bad for strike throwing ability. The Dodgers may see some things in his mechanics to tweak that could unlock more strikes going forward. Case’s hips leak open early, which puts a lot of stress on his arm. In effect, it lags behind, needing to catch up, which makes it harder for Case to repeat and throw strikes.

He is a high-likelihood reliever, but you can make a CASE that Tommy has the stuff to profile in middle relief if he can improve strike throwing and maintain more consistent shape on his secondaries. The Dodgers seem like the right org to try to coax that potential out of him.
