Joswa Lugo 6/16/26

Big, physical teenage infielder who has all the raw tools to profile as an everyday third baseman. Pull-oriented approach but flashes all fields power and can muscle balls out oppo. Clean swing with efficient hand load and good bat path; slightly counter rotates and well-timed hip rotation, which helps generate big power. Stable head and gets a good look at the baseball. Comfortable in box; likes to see pitches and hunts fastballs. Knows the zone and generally patient approach. Raw vs spin and will chase sliders down and away. Has split time between SS and 3B this summer. INF actions and hands play well at short, but range is stretched there. Strong arm can cover up the lack of speed a bit. Reads the ball well off the bat and comes forward naturally. Easy hands/clean transfers. Excels at reaction plays and standout hand/eye on tricky short hops. No problem with plays to right and easy plus arm working back cross body. Chance to be an above average maybe even plus defender at third. Surprising small space quickness for a bigger kid - needs to keep weight in check to maintain that. MLB body right now but might see some softness creeping in. Inconsistent effort on the bases, takes more plays off than you’d like to see. Well below average runner with two speeds, running on a beach look to his gait. Can see every day chance. Hit tool development his biggest variable. Needs to prove he can hit spin and believe he will get attacked away more vs better pitching. Need to see how he adjusts to the adjustment.
