Yeremmy Cabeza 5/4/26

Rockies RHP Yeremmy Cabeza was electric last night at Papago. The 22 year old Venezuelan is a power arm with elite arm speed; he was pumping 96-98 with two sharp breakers. The SL is comfortably + and the CB isn’t far behind. The vibe on the mound is he’s looking to blow it past you.

Works from a HTQ slot and gets some tail/bore life on his FB which is a little unusual given the arm slot. Lot of ugly/uncomfortable swings when throwing the fastball inside on RHH. Plan to monitor righty/lefty splits as the season progresses. The SL has late-two plane break and dives off the table at times. The CB was 12/6 downer. He has some feel to land both in zone for strikes. The CHG was rarely used and firm, it is behind his other offerings.

The delivery is simple, and he repeats well. High lead glove might create a bit of deception. The biggest risk factor to Cabeza’s long-term SP status is probably his size and subsequent durability / ability to log innings. Even if he falls short of a rotation, his stuff is loud enough to play in a pen. Exciting arm to keep tabs on.
